Being a Parent...

Before becoming one, I was sure of the kind of parent I wanted to be.

And then my daughter burst into my life and turned pretty much all my convictions upside down (and then some). Being a parent shakes you up and makes you grow — it's as wonderful as it is exhausting.

If there's one thing I've truly discovered, it's that being a parent means doing the best you can. It's juggling yesterday's ideals with today's realities. Or the other way around. It's having principles, and sometimes a reality that's worlds apart… and often it's learning to live with your own contradictions*.

Being a parent means doing your best, somewhere between your aspirations and the pressure to get it right. But whatever anyone says, there is no better choice than the one you make.

The perfect parent is the one you strive to be.

Whether you took two years of parental leave or went back to work (with barely concealed delight) the moment you were allowed. Long breastfeeding, or none at all. Home-cooked meals every day, just at weekends, when you can, never. Talking to them in sign language, in English, or in made-up baby babble. Team ultra-sophisticated baby carrier or easy-going pushchair. Early to bed, late to bed, never to bed…

And where does Popote fit in?

Behind Popote is this desire to help you balance your wishes and real life.

To help you stop feeling guilty too.

Because no, not spending your evening peeling a butternut squash does not make you a bad parent. And yes, we know you want the best for your baby.

With our little pouches, we have of course chosen organic and delicious.

For the rest, we adapt to all parenting choices. Whether you're not on speaking terms with the kitchen and Popote every evening, whether you're always on the go and need practicality, whether you simply can't be bothered to cook, whether you're #TeamHomemade and just need a backup…

Because there isn't one but a thousand ways to be a parent.

And you are still the best placed to decide what you want to feed your baby.

* like finally having a grown-up dinner without Baby, but spending the whole evening talking about nothing but them. Can't wait for them to grow up, but feeling blue as the first birthday approaches. Dreaming they'll sleep through the night, but panicking the moment they sleep more than 6 hours straight (are you sure they're still breathing?!). #NonExhaustiveList
