Detailed description

The texture discovery pack for Baby from 8 months

TEXTURED PURÉES FOR BABY

To support Baby's growth and introduce new textures, Popote offers organic textured purées made in France. Perfect from 8 months, these meals are suitable for both lunch and dinner, letting little foodies enjoy every bite! At lunchtime, don't forget to add a little protein such as meat, fish or eggs (10 g per day at 8 months) as well as a drizzle of oil (1 teaspoon per day) or a knob of butter from time to time. In the evening, add some fat to the textured purée if none was included at lunchtime. Simply open the pouch, heat it in the microwave, and it's ready for Baby's little tummy.

SMALL PIECES FOR BABY

How do you know if Baby is ready for their first meals with small pieces? When smooth, thick purées have become easy to eat, that's a good sign! If Baby can hold their head and back upright in their highchair and can bring food to their mouth on their own, they're ready for the next step. From 8 months, you can start offering foods in the form of very soft pieces, which can be mashed between the tongue and the palate (or between the fingers). Around 10 to 12 months, you can introduce pieces to bite and chew, raw or cooked.

Please note: avoid small, round, hard foods before the age of 5. For example, cut grapes in half.

Frequently asked questions from our customers and community

At what age do we start introducing textures?

Textured purées can be introduced around 6 to 8 months, after offering smooth purées. This helps Baby gradually get used to new textures.

How do you know when Baby is ready to eat lumps?

When Baby handles thick purées well, sits up without support and picks up food to bring to their mouth, that's the right time to introduce slightly bigger pieces.

Should you add other ingredients to Baby's textured purées?

Yes, you can enrich textured purées with a spoonful of oil, a little butter or cream, and add age-appropriate proteins such as meat, fish or egg.

What should you do if Baby won't accept new textures?

Don't panic — it's perfectly normal. Try again later, let Baby touch and explore, and regularly offer different textures so they can get used to them gently.

Frequently asked questions from our customers and community

Can you freeze the products?

Our (delicious) little purées have been cooked and then sterilised (heated to a high temperature) to ensure their preservation.
You can freeze them without any problem by following a few guidelines (the ingredients may however lose a little of their flavour):

  • Do not place the pouch directly in the freezer, as its structure may be affected by freezing.
  • Pour them into a suitable container first (an ice cube tray, for example), or cook them before freezing.
  • Never refreeze a product that has already been defrosted.

Parent tip: use our little pouches to cook recipes for your baby, then freeze them to keep them for longer!

Once opened, how long does the pouch keep?

Once opened, fruits, vegetables and yogurt-style pouches keep for 48 hours in the fridge, and 36 hours for little meals and meat/fish. And of course, you can freeze the rest of your pouches by pouring them into an ice cube tray — perfect for making handy little portions ready to whip out when Baby is hungry.

Should you add fat to your products?

There is no added fat in our pouches (except in the complete little meals).
And as you might expect, fat is essential for Baby! You can therefore add one teaspoon of oil per day between 4 and 12 months, and 2 teaspoons between 12 and 36 months, into the purée after warming it up.

Can you warm up the pouches?

Just like glass baby food jars, our pouches can be warmed up. At Popote, we recommend pouring the contents of your pouches into a suitable container before heating in the microwave or in a bain-marie. Make sure to check the temperature of the food before giving it to your baby.
WARNING: never put the pouch directly in the microwave. Never store a pouch whose contents have already been warmed up in its packaging.
