Detailed description
Textures in weaning: an essential step
WHY INTRODUCE TEXTURES AFTER STARTING SOLID FOODS?
Progressively introducing textures is an integral part of learning to eat. It stimulates chewing, motor development and prepares Baby to eat like the grown-ups.
Around 6 to 8 months, if Baby holds their head well, sits up straight and starts bringing food to their mouth, it's the right time to enrich their purées and move on to new textures.
Discover our range of Textured Purées to start introducing textures!
WHAT TEXTURES SHOULD YOU OFFER BABY FROM 8 MONTHS?
From 8 months (sometimes a little earlier), you can start offering Baby:
– Less smooth purées, thicker, with small soft pieces
– Foods that are textured or mashed : mashed potatoes, fork-mashed cooked vegetables, small pieces of fish, finely minced meat…
– Suitable starchy foods : well-cooked rice, small pasta, semolina, bulgur wheat
– Always a portion of protein at lunchtime (10 g at 8 months), and a teaspoon of fat per day (vegetable oil, butter…)
Our Small Pieces Carrot and Wholegrain Rice or Mushroom and Pasta Shells are perfect for this new stage!
HOW DO YOU KNOW IF BABY IS READY FOR PIECES?
Every Baby has their own pace, but certain signs show they are ready to move on to textured purées or small pieces :
– They have already accepted smooth purées well.
– They show interest in what you are eating.
– They chew, even without teeth!
– They don't show a gag reflex when in contact with slightly thicker textures.
No pressure: the important thing is to listen to your Baby and introduce pieces gradually, without forcing.

Can the products be frozen?
Our (delicious) little purées are cooked and then sterilised (heated to a high temperature) to preserve them.
You can freeze them, provided you follow a few guidelines (though the ingredients may lose a little flavour):
– Don’t put the pouch straight into the freezer, as freezing may affect its structure.
– First pour the contents into a suitable container (an ice cube tray, for example), or cook with them before freezing.
– Never refreeze a product once it has thawed.
Parent tip: use our little pouches to make recipes for your baby, then freeze them to keep them for longer!
How long does a pouch keep once opened?
Once opened, our baby food pouches can be kept in the fridge for up to 48 hours for fruit, vegetables and yoghurt-style blends, and up to 36 hours for meat, fish and little meal pouches, provided they are stored hygienically with the cap firmly closed.
Should I add fat to your products?
Our pouches contain no added fat (except the two Little Meals pouches).
And as you’ve probably guessed, babies need fat! You can therefore add one teaspoon of oil a day to the purée between 4 and 12 months, and two teaspoons between 12 and 36 months, after heating it up.
My baby is allergic to cow’s milk protein
None of our pouches contain traces of cow’s milk protein, except our plain and vanilla yoghurt-style blends, porridge, little meals and possibly our beef and veal pouches.
But don’t worry! We’ve thought of that too with our plant-based blends: plenty for babies with a cow’s milk protein allergy to discover, including Oat & Apple and Coconut & Banana (please note that these are low in calcium).
Psst, all our machines are cleaned before each new production run, so there’s no risk of cross-contamination.
